Philosophy
I love philosophy. The ability to debate over a topic with contrasting viewpoints and not falling into an argument is a very delicate art. Most people can't do it. You have to be able to fully understand both sides, have an opinion, and express it in such a way that you don't sink down to the level of bickering and being close-minded. Both of my parents were reporters, and they definitely taught me a few things about asking touchy questions without having the answer blow up in your face. The first trick is to not ask a question that you don't want to know the true answer. Does this make me look fat? Most people will say no, but on occasion, someone will pipe up and say the truth that everyone knows, which is yes, and the asker is rarely prepared. The fall out from a question like that is often amazing.
